What we do
- Every profile is checked by a person before it is shown to anyone. Duplicate, fake or under-18 accounts are removed.
- A Respected Imam is present in every conversation. Rooms are not private chats. Both sides are told this before they pay.
- Wali seat. A sister can add her wali or a family member to any room at any time.
- No contact details until both sides agree. Phone numbers, email addresses and links are blocked automatically until the Respected Imam marks the room as ready.
- Report and block on every profile and every message. Reports are reviewed by our moderators, and serious matters are handled under our Online Safety Act procedures.
- 18 and over only. We record how this is enforced and review it regularly.
What you should do
- Never send money, gift cards or bank details to anyone you meet online, whatever the story.
- Keep the conversation on the platform until the Respected Imam confirms both families are ready.
- Meet first with family present, in a public place, in daylight.
- Be honest in your profile and expect honesty back. Verify what matters before any commitment.
- If something feels wrong, it probably is. Report it and we will look.
How to report
Use the report button on the profile or message, or email safety@london-muslims.uk. Tell us what happened and when. We aim to respond within 48 hours and sooner for anything urgent. If you are in immediate danger, call 999.
